Senior Emulator Developer (Android / Console Systems)

OptiSigns builds modern digital signage and device management solutions used across the globe. We are expanding into gaming and interactive experiences with OpenConsole, a next-generation, Android-based console that supports both retro game emulation and AI-generated custom games.

About OpenConsole:

OpenConsole is an all-in-one system for playing and creating games directly on your TV. Users simply plug it into a TV via HDMI and use the included wireless controller to start playing. It supports a wide range of emulator-compatible game files (games not included), enabling gameplay across many classic platforms. OpenConsole also supports custom game creation, allowing users to build games using third-party AI tools such as Bolt or Vercel and load them onto the console. Its smooth controller performance, compact design, and intuitive interface create a unique, personalized gaming experience.

We are seeking an engineer to take ownership of expanding and enhancing this product line, including the console emulator stack, device performance, and future features.

We are looking for a highly skilled Emulator Developer / Console Systems Engineer to work on the next phase of OptiConsole. You will focus on emulator integration, AI enhacing, device input systems, performance optimization, and overall platform enhancements.

This role involves hands-on development in Android systems, device emulation, controller mapping, and low-level hardware/software integration. You will work closely with firmware, software, and product teams to push the platform forward.

• Enhance, optimize, and further develop the OptiConsole emulator stack and supporting systems.

• Integrate, maintain, and tune multi-platform emulation engines (classic game systems).
• Improve controller and input device emulation performance, accuracy, and responsiveness.
• Support loading and running custom games produced by external AI game creation tools.
• Improvie AI enhancing and create AI games
• Develop configuration tools, controller mapping features, and UI enhancements.
• Troubleshoot complex low-level issues across hardware and software layers.
• Validate performance across different TVs, controllers, and hardware environments.

• 3 years of experience in emulator development, embedded systems, or console-level engineering.
• Strong proficiency in C/C (required).
• Experience with HID input, controller emulation, or similar systems.
• Clear understanding of Bluetooth, USB, or similar communication layers.
• Experience with Android internals, NDK, JNI, or low-level Linux/Android development.
• Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
• Experience with classic console emulators (NES/SNES, Sega, PlayStation, etc.) or open-source emulator cores.
• Knowledge of ARM-based device architectures.
• Prior work with AI-driven game engines or custom content loaders.
• Familiarity with digital signage, consumer electronics, or embedded device ecosystems.
• Experience building configuration tools or UI for controller mapping.

• Applicants must be willing to work on-site at one of three OptiSign locations: Munich, Germany; Houston, TX; or Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for positions in Germany and the United States.
