Annual equivalent of $82,492 to $102,876 (prorated by FTE).

This position includes a program pay rate differential that is equivalent to $6,240 per year!!!   (prorated based on FTE status).
 

If licensed in Oregon (LCSW, LMFT, LPC) this position would include a $3.00/hr license differential that is equivalent to an additional $6,240 per year (prorated by FTE).

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM

 Participation in coverage for a rotating 24-hour after hours line is required and compensated. 

Overview

The Forensics/Outreach therapist provides clinical recovery-focused services to people with serious mental illness, using strategies to prevent public safety and criminal justice involvement including avoiding and limiting incarceration.   Follows evidence-based practices for clients engaged in community restoration services.  Assesses and screens clients, formulates individual treatment plans, develops transition plans for incarcerated or community corrections clients. Coordinates activities to prevent incarceration and continued incarceration. Works with community resources to continue to support folks in both Pre and Post booking. This position works directly in the community both with local law enforcement as well as independently to connect and engage those in need of behavioral health, crisis prevention, de-escalation and other services. Works collaboratively running meetings with treatment teams and other external support. 

 

Responsibilities

Maintains clinical responsibility for the counseling of clients who have a mental illness and substance abuse problems, if present

Screens clients and potential clients, performs assessments and assessment updates.

Develops and updates individual treatment plans in collaboration with forensic case managers, forensic peers and clients.

Provides clinical direction to forensic case managers and forensic peers.

Coordinates with personnel in the jail, including jail staff, medical providers and other mental health service providers.

Coordinates with the courts, District Attorneys, Public Defender’s Office and clients participating in jail diversion activities.

Provides care coordination for linkage to substance abuse services.

Oversees tracking of grant data and client outcomes.

Implements treatment planning goals, utilizing Strengths-Based model of care, and other program-specific evidence-based practices.

Assists clients in accessing community resources while teaching skills for client linkage of community resources.

Provides life skills training appropriate to meeting client goals.

Works collaboratively with community resources/and treatment team to help clients with housing needs, accessing employment and other income resources, and medical coverage. These resources may include- but are not limited to- HUD and Social Security.

Transports clients to facilitate client-directed services and is required to drive.

 

Qualifications

This position requires a Master's degree in a behavioral science, an understanding of co-occurring disorders, and related experience.

 Experience with substance abuse treatment for dually diagnosed clients preferred.

Must be a QMHP on the Mental Health & Addictions Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) registry.

OR

Must be registered as a licensure intern with the State of Oregon or be licensed in Oregon as an LMFT, LCSW, LPC or clinical Psychologist.

In order to avoid potential conflict of interest, applicants for this position cannot have received services from Options for Southern Oregon within the last 12 months.

Candidates must be able to use e-mail, compose documents, save and locate documents electronically, and learn to use our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Proficiency in Word and other MS Office applications preferred. 

Must pass state-required background and DMV checks; possess a valid OR driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Candidate must be able to work independently and flexibly, under general supervision.

Must be able to pass additional background check through Community Corrections.
