We are currently looking for part time Social Recreation Activity Coordinator to work part time in San Luis Obispo.
Job Overview
The Social Recreation Activity Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for adults with intellectual disabilities. This position involves planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the interests and abilities of attendees. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with the individuals with disabilities and a strong background in recreational therapy or related fields.
Duties
- Plan and facilitate a variety of recreational activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation among residents.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed during scheduled activities.
- Maintain an organized schedule of events and ensure all necessary materials are prepared in advance.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff and other stakeholders to promote participation in activities.
- Document participation and feedback from participants to continually improve programming.
- Provide support to participants, fostering a positive environment that encourages engagement.
- Conduct pre-admission screening and interest inventories
- Coordinate staffing for events and clubs
Requirements
- Previous experience in event planning or coordinating activities within assisted living or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Background in recreational therapy or social work is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, their families, and team members.
- Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.
- Ability to manage schedules effectively while being adaptable to changing needs of participants.

We are looking for someone interested in either a part time or full time position. Hours for a part time position would be approximately 1-7pm Tues-Saturday. Full time hours will be approximately 10-6:30pm Tues-Saturday.
