What are the responsibilities and job description for the Natural Gas Originator, Gulf Coast position at Optimus?
Our client is seeking a Natural Gas Originator to build and expand the physical commercial platform supporting its Gulf Coast natural gas trading strategy. Reporting to the Head of Origination, this role is responsible for originating and structuring physical supply, transportation, and storage opportunities while maximizing the value of existing assets and developing long-term commercial relationships that strengthen the trading portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and structure natural gas supply, transportation, and storage agreements that enhance portfolio value and support the trading strategy.
- Leverage an established network of producer and midstream relationships to identify, develop, and execute new commercial opportunities across the Gulf Coast.
- Evaluate asset economics, market fundamentals, and infrastructure dynamics to negotiate high-value transactions and maximize the value of existing assets.
- Partner with Trading, Legal, Credit, and Operations teams to execute commercial agreements, manage risk, and position the business for long-term growth.
Required Experience / Skills
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of experience in natural gas origination, supply, trading, or commercial development.
- Demonstrated expertise in physical natural gas markets, including supply contract negotiation, transportation and storage economics, and producer or midstream relationship management.
- Established Gulf Coast producer and midstream relationships, with a proven track record of developing new business and creating commercial value through an existing network.
- Strong commercial judgment, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to execute complex transactions within established risk, compliance, and governance frameworks.
