Position Summary
The Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of employees, patients, and visitors, while identifying and addressing potentially hazardous or unsafe conditions across assigned locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol premises and monitor surveillance systems to ensure safety and security.
- Control access points and permit authorized entry to facilities.
- Inspect buildings, equipment, and grounds for safety concerns.
- Report on irregularities and enforce organizational policies and procedures.
- Respond to incidents and address trespassing or safety violations as needed.
- Open and secure facilities, including activating/deactivating alarms and lighting.
- Lock and secure buildings at the close of business.
- Assist with emergency procedures, including evacuations as directed.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, OSHA, DPH, and infection control standards.
- Attend department and staff meetings as required.
- Follow assigned schedules and maintain reliable attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in security or related field required
- Flexibility to workdays, evenings, and weekends
- Ability to work at multiple locations as needed.
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of public safety procedures and security protocols
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations, including patients and families.
Licensure/Certification:
- Valid Connecticut driver’s license required.
- Active Connecticut Guard Card required.
Language Skills:
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
