About Us Optimum Wound Care is a specialized wound care practice serving Southern California. We are dedicated to providing exceptional patient-centered wound care treatment and are looking for a motivated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our growing team.
Position Overview We are hiring for a Full-Time Medical Assistant. The ideal candidate will have hands-on wound care experience, a strong clinical foundation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty practice environment.
Responsibilities Assist providers with wound care procedures including debridement, dressing changes and wound assessments. Apply and manage multi-layer compression therapy for venous insufficiency and lymphedema patients. Assist with advanced wound therapies including negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT/wound VAC), biological skin substitutes and cellular tissue products (CTPs). Support the application of collagen-based dressings, antimicrobial therapies and specialty offloading devices. Prepare treatment rooms and ensure proper setup of supplies and instruments before and after procedures. Document clinical information accurately in the EMR system. Perform front and back office duties including patient intake, vital signs, and scheduling. Maintain infection control standards and OSHA compliance. Communicate effectively with patients, families and the care team. Support a smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.
Requirements Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required. Minimum 1 year of wound care experience required with demonstrated exposure to advanced wound therapies. Experience with multi-layer compression wrapping (Unna boot, 2-layer, 3-layer or 4-layer systems) strongly preferred. Familiarity with NPWT systems. BLS/CPR certification required. Proficiency with EMR systems. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Hours 30-40 hours per week
Compensation $22.00 – $26.00 per hour based on experience.
