As an On Call Direct Support Mentor, you’ll work with clients ages 18 - 28. You'll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to mental health and well being. This role is ideal for those who value flexibility while maintaining a strong commitment to professional and personal boundaries.
At OPI Houston, we empower young adults to heal and build confidence through evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, equine-assisted therapy, and trauma-focused modalities. By creating a safe, supportive environment, we guide young adults to become strong, self-sufficient individuals with a positive influence on their own lives and the lives of others.
Responsibilities
- Client Support: Build meaningful relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and assisting with daily activities.
- Safety and Security: Ensure clients are safe and premises are secure during overnight hours.
- Crisis Management: Use de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe, calm environment.
- Attachment-Based Care: Foster attuned relationships with empathy and provide constructive feedback.
- Campus Upkeep: Support a clean, welcoming space by assisting with chores and maintenance.
- Documentation: Keep thorough, accurate records of client interactions and interventions.
- Professionalism & Compliance: Uphold company values, follow policies, and manage time effectively.
Qualifications
- Age: 21 years of age or older
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D required. Associates or bachelor's in human services, psychology, criminal justice, or related field is preferred.
- Skills: Quick decision - making skills and a growth mindset with a focus on Embarks core values.
- Experience: Min of 1 year of experience working with adolescent populations is preferred
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification preferred, will provide training
- Background Checks: Must pass pre - employment drug screen and federal and state background check in concordance with Texas state laws.
