Position Overview:
The Tool Design Engineer for WDM reports to the Engineering Design Manager for WDM. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Lead designer on new product family development.
• Lead designer on multi-die product development.
• Lead technical expert on progression design assessment software (currently Deform).
• Lead technical expert for 3D design (currently Autodesk Inventor).
The ideal candidate will have extensive tool design experience and significant exposure to fastener manufacturing processes and equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
• Product Family Development
o Perform initial design for manufacturing review.
o Outline manufacturability issues.
o Develop product progressions and design tools.
o Shop floor support.
• Multi-Die Product Development
o Perform initial design for manufacturing review.
o Assess development complexity.
o Recommend design engineer.
o Shop floor support.
o Support training of colleagues.
• Progression Design Assessment Software
o Lead selection process for software.
o Achieve resident expert status.
o Train colleagues.
• 3D Design Software
o Lead selection process for software.

Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing.
• Minimum 10 years’ fastener tool design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or material sciences preferred.
• Inspection, Metrology, Metallurgical Analysis Interpretation.
•GD&T, Print Review, Understanding and interpretation of engineering specifications (IFI, ASME, etc). Fastener experience highly preferred.

Salary : $67,800 - $130,000
