Cybersecurity Intern

At Optima we are looking for an aspiring security superstar! The overall goal of this role will be to learn the ins and outs of cybersecurity and risk management. Your overall focus will be to interact with clients on a variety of different security matters. You will be both eager to learn about the technical aspect of cybersecurity along with the business aspect.

As an intern you will get constant mentoring and development with the end goal of becoming a team member. You will help our clients fully understand the ins and outs of cyber in a language they understand, jargon need not apply here!

Who are you?

You are a go-getter and you love and breath everything cyber! You are not afraid of presenting to clients on a topic because you know the preparation you've done pays off. You are capable understanding complex topics and translating them into language that people can understand and action on. Whenever you are writing, people compare your work to the likes of shakes.

Autonomy is your middle name and accountability is your first, you just get things done with no supervision. In the same breath you are not afraid to ask the questions that you are unable to find on google or just too complex to understand.

As an intern at Optima, you will have the opportunity to work with experienced cybersecurity professionals and learn from their expertise. You will be involved in a variety of projects and tasks, including interacting with clients, assisting with risk management and security assessments, and developing your technical and business knowledge.

Your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively will be a key part of this role, as you will be working with clients who may not have a deep understanding of cybersecurity. You will need to be able to explain technical concepts in a way that is easy for clients to understand and help them make informed decisions about their security posture.

You will be given a high level of autonomy in this role and will be expected to take ownership of your work and manage your own time effectively. You will need to be able to work independently and seek out guidance and support when needed. You will also be accountable for the quality of your work and the results you achieve.

Requirements for Success:

• Eager to learn and grow
• Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the judgment to know when to seek help
• Strong typing and multitasking skills, with the ability to engage professionally with clients during calls
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
• Relevant certifications are a plus, but not required

*This is a part-time hybrid (3 days on-site) role with 29 hours per week.

*Opportunity for this to develop into a full-time role after 6 months.

*Compensation: $20 per hour
