Job Title: Stripe Consultant

Type: Contract

Location: Remote

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Stripe Consultant who can analyze, optimize, and troubleshoot our client's Stripe payment environment. The ideal candidate understands both Stripe's functional operations and the technical/API integration, with the ability to diagnose issues and implement code-level fixes.

Responsibilities:

Functional / Business Responsibilities

• Review and optimize Stripe account configuration (products, pricing, invoices, subscriptions).
• Ensure correct setup of payouts, fees, tax, Radar fraud settings, and dispute management.
• Identify issues with billing, refunds, recurring payments, and customer accounts.
• Provide guidance on best practices for PCI compliance, SCA, and 3D Secure.
  
  

Technical Responsibilities

• Debug and fix errors in the Stripe integration (API, webhooks, backend logic).
• Review and update code related to payment flows.
• Build or modify custom Stripe Checkout and Payment Element implementations.
• Diagnose issues with subscription logic, proration, trial behavior, and payment failures.
• Set up and secure webhook endpoints.
• Edit or write code in languages such as JavaScript/Node.js, Python, PHP, or others depending on stack.
• Integrate Stripe with platforms, CRMs, or internal systems.
  
  

Required Skills:

Functional Skills

• Strong understanding of Stripe Billing, Checkout, Invoicing, Connect (if applicable), and the Dashboard.
• Experience handling disputes, chargebacks, refunds, and fraud prevention.
• Knowledge of payment workflows and revenue operations.
  
  

Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience using Stripe API, Stripe.js, and webhooks.
• Ability to read, debug, and modify backend code.
• Familiarity with common stacks:
• JavaScript / Node.js
• Python
• PHP
• Ruby
• SQL
• Understanding of authentication, security, and error handling.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years working with Stripe payments or similar payment processors.
• Experience integrating and supporting complex payment flows.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  
  

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with marketplace platforms (Stripe Connect).
• Experience with Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, SquareSpace, or custom apps.
• Familiarity with financial reporting and revenue analytics.
