Inspector In-Process – WEEKENDS
Basic Function: Tests and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables at various stages during the production process and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products by performing the following job responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications Required
Education & Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months of related experience and/or training preferred.
Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Ability to set up, run, and monitor test equipment in a production environment. Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly. Ability to read and follow basic instructions, ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.
Working Conditions: While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Significant inspecting activities require manual dexterity using hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer usage. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for communication with coworkers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. - Selects optical fiber and sub-cables to be tested based on priorities set by production.
- Strips optical fiber and sub-cables and uses OTDR testing equipment to test for length, breaks, and attenuation.
- Observes, measures, and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables for qualities such as wall thickness, diameter, concentricity, print, and color as required per the shop order.
- Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Completes all inspection paperwork specific to this job function.
