What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Engineer position at OPS Controls?
OPS Controls is looking to hire a skilled software engineer to design, develop, and install solution software for our clients. Some onsite visits necessary per project.
Role responsibilities include gathering user requirements, defining system functionality, and writing code in various languages. Our ideal candidates are familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC), are comfortable writing software using C/C & IEC 61131-3 (Codesys) and have a grasp of installing solutions to industrial equipment using common-practice PLCs.
To ensure success as a software engineer, you should have the ability to work with minimal supervision, using industry-standard best practices. You will be responsible to identify, collaborate, and design robust software for any mechanical or electrical purpose within several industrial disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Assist in the development of continuous project documentation
- Develop Initial Software Requirement Specifications
- System Layout Documentation
- Write well-documented code that is easily understandable by outside contributors
- Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
- Oversee the successful installation of software
- Software testing onsite with startup applications
- Comply with project plans and industry standards
Requirements:
· BSc in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field
· Proven work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Ability to develop software in C, C , and IEC 61131-3
· Experience with using CODESYS Platform or equivalent
· Proficiency in common software engineering frameworks (.NET, Qt)
· Knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical processes a plus
· Proficiency in CAN bus protocols a plus
· Electrical and mechanical engineering experience a plus
· Ability to travel when required
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
