Position Summary: The Corporate Guardian provides court-appointed decision-making services for adults determined incompetent under Wisconsin guardianship statutes. The Guardian is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, financial stability, and rights of assigned wards while coordinating services and maintaining compliance with court requirements.

Corporate guardians play a crucial role in the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing essential support and ensuring their rights, safety, and dignity are upheld. Our corporate guardian will maintain accurate information and documentation, including conducting assessments and preparing reports, correspondence, and program documentation. Candidate will have strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, plan, and work collaboratively with an array of stakeholders including consumers, families, service providers, and funding sources. Corporate Guardians may be Guardians of Person and/or Guardians of Estate.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
· Advocate for the ward
· Determine and monitor residential and care providers
· Apply for services available to benefit the ward
· Consent to and monitor medical treatment
· Consent to and monitor all non-medical treatment such as work, housing, education, day program, counseling, etc.
· Consent to medical treatments
· Consent to release of confidential information
· Make end of the life decisions
· Maximize independent in the least restrictive manner
· Coordinate care and behavior plans
· Attend all meetings regarding the ward
· Keep very detailed records for each ward
· Respond to wards phone calls, requests and questions
· Mediate amongst family and friends to ensure healthy relations for the ward
· Problem solves
· Manages the financial and property matters of the ward
· Manages bill payment and prioritizes payments when funds are limited
· Manages assets including buying or selling property and applying for government benefits
· Sign contracts of filing lawsuits on behalf of the ward
· Assist the ward in complying with criminal matters
· Advocate for the wards best interest in legal, divorce and child custody and support matters.
· Administer policies and procedures effectively and performs related duties as required or delegated by supervisor.
· Maintaining quality of life and promote inclusion and independence within the community.
· Ensure that individuals’ best interests are protected while respecting their dignity, independence, and unique preferences.
· Build relationships with Probate
· Keep informed of changes in the field and maintain credentialing requirements
Qualifications:
· Associate’s degree in Human Services, or equivalent experience and education is preferred
· Two years of related experience working in the human service field is preferred
· Requires effective skill of writing and speaking clearly and effectively
· Requires the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively
· Requires the ability to make logical decisions, carry out decisions made, and follow-up with feedback when appropriate
· Requires successful completion of the UWGB Guardianship Training and successfully be placed on the Guardianship Registry
· Requires the ability to work independently and frequently switch tasks
· Requires valid WI driver’s license, at least 3 years driving experience and a good driving record
· Possess excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
· Ability to travel when needed for training and participants needs
· Requires ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
· Must have ability to manage financial responsibilities
· Must be able to pass an essential function evaluation
· The employee must frequently lift, support, and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift, support, and/or move up to 100 pounds
