UCT is looking for a talented Production Lead – Electromechanical Assembly to join us in Chandler, AZ!
The Production Lead supports the Integration (electromechanical assembly) team responsible for building complex systems, sub-assemblies, and tool platforms for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This work includes mechanical assembly, cable routing, harnessing, electrical component installation, and system-level integration.
This position plays a key role in coordinating production workflow, ensuring quality standards, mentoring technicians, and supporting the Production Supervisor in achieving daily manufacturing goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance
- Follows all safety policies and ensures team adherence to PPE, ESD, and cleanroom protocols
- Promotes a strong safety culture and escalates risks or hazards immediately

Production Leadership
- Leads daily production activities within the electromechanical assembly/integration area
- Assigns work, monitors workflow, and ensures builds are completed to schedule
- Supports shift startup meetings, priorities, and communication of production goals

Technical Execution
- Supports hands-on assembly as needed, including:
- Mechanical assembly of frames, modules, and sub-assemblies
- Cable routing, harness installation, and wire management
- Electrical component installation and system hookups
- Ensures work is performed to blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and BOMs
- Verifies proper integration of mechanical and electrical systems
- Supports hands-on assembly as needed, including:

Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensures all assemblies meet quality standards and specifications
- Performs in-process inspections and supports troubleshooting of assembly issues
- Identifies root causes of defects and implements corrective actions
- Drives continuous improvement (Lean, 5S, Kaizen) initiatives

Training & Team Development
- Trains and mentors Assembly Technicians (Levels I–III) on build processes and best practices
- Assesses skill levels and supports cross-training across integration tasks
- Reinforces proper interpretation of drawings, schematics, and work instructions

Performance & Metrics
- Tracks production output, quality metrics, and efficiency (KPIs)
- Supports the Production Supervisor in meeting daily/weekly goals
- Assists in developing and executing improvement plans

Communication & Coordination
- Serves as a primary point of contact between technicians and supervision
- Participates in shift handoffs, team meetings, and problem-solving discussions
- Documents safety, quality, personnel, and equipment issues

General Support
- Participates in housekeeping, organization, and 5S initiatives
- Performs other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
- Strong background in electromechanical assembly and system integration
- Experience with:
- Cable routing, harness assembly, and installation
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Sub-assembly and full system builds
- Familiarity with semiconductor equipment or similar high-tech manufacturing
- Experience troubleshooting assembly or integration issues
- Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or continuous improvement experience preferred
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, production systems)
Educational / Certification Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Technical certification or associate degree in electronics, manufacturing, or related field preferred
- Prior team lead or informal leadership experience strongly preferred
Experience Requirements
- 3 years of experience in electromechanical assembly, system integration, or advanced manufacturing
- Prior leadership, lead, or mentoring experience preferred
- Experience in cleanroom or high-tech equipment manufacturing is a plus
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing and/or cleanroom environment
- Exposure to mechanical systems, electrical components, and production equipment
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 30–35 pounds (with assistance as needed)
- Use of hands and tools for fine assembly work
Environmental Exposure:
- Required use of PPE (ESD gear, safety equipment, cleanroom gowning as required)
- Exposure to moderate noise, moving mechanical parts, and electrical components
