JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of assembly line processes for our market leading Broderson Carry Deck Cranes. The candidate will combine strong knowledge of Lean, Assembly Line Design, and heavy equipment to create safe, quality, efficient, and high-throughput results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assembly Line Design & Optimization: Design, implement, and upgrade assembly layouts for Carry Deck Cranes, optimizing workflow, material flow, and workstation ergonomics.
- Lean & Continuous Improvement (Lean/6S): Utilize Lean manufacturing tools (VSM, 6S, Kaizen) to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and resolve production assembly issues, non-conformances, and safety hazards, implementing corrective actions (RCCA).
- Process Documentation: Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and bills of materials (BOMs) for complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies.
- New Product Introductions (NPI): Serve as the manufacturing lead for product launches, drive Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), lead manufacturing readiness for next-generation crane models including electrification initiatives.
- Tooling & Fixture Design: Design, source, and implement assembly fixtures, jib cranes, lifting tools, and specialized jigs to support heavy component installation.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- 3-10 years of Engineering experience in heavy equipment or automotive including
- g., Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Design, Process, Tooling, etc.
- g., Cranes, construction equipment, or automotive
- 1-5 years of specialized Assembly Line Design within Manufacturing Engineering
- Capable of leading new and complete assembly line designs and their implementation
- Specifically focused on assembly line architecture, including line balancing, takt time analysis, and workstation optimization
- DFMA (part consolidation, modular sub-assemblies, mistake proofing), Takt Time & Line Balancing (time studies, work distribution, and off-line cells), Progressive Station Design (sub-components, chassis, drivetrain, hydraulics, electrical, turret, boom, cab), Material Logistics (PFEP, kitting, POU, two-bin kanban), Quality & Compliance (PFMEA, standard work instructions, testing)
- Implementation of Lean & CI with improved business metric results
- Metrics, goals, root cause problem solving, visual daily management, VSM, 6S, kaizen
- g., Safety (injury reduction), Quality (scrap, rework, warranty), Delivery (throughput-capacity, on-time delivery, lead-time), Cost (productivity, headcount), Inventory
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering - Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical
- Travel: 10% if located in Union City, TN; 25% if Monee, IL; 50% within 200 miles of Union City
