Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides enthusiastic, professional leadership to assigned lenders and staff.
- Ensure that service delivery is consistent, expedient, accurate, professional and courteous.
- Establishes individual, sales and service goals for Branch and Commercial Bankers.
- Develops new deposit relationships with growth of overall bank deposits as the goal.
- Solicits, originates, underwrites, and approves/declines Small Business and Commercial loans, ensuring:
- Sound credit decisions aligned with Bank lending policies
- Thorough credit analysis to meet member needs and protect asset quality
- Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Accurate and complete loan documentation
- Fair and risk-appropriate pricing in accordance with Bank policy
- Develops business through an active calling program by setting goals, identifying target loan prospects, collaborating with branch staff on referrals, and connecting members with appropriate Bank service specialists.
- Proactively manages and services assigned loan portfolios to reduce delinquencies and documentation exceptions by collecting past-due loans, coordinating workout resolutions with Credit Administration, and ensuring timely renewals through early financial review and maturity planning.
- Oversee sales and service management by leading staff meetings, resolving member issues, promoting cross-sales, and coaching staff to achieve sales and service goals.
- Maintains an active role in the Bank’s annual budget planning process through the development of yearly market budget.
- Holds managerial authority for hiring, performance management, coaching, and recommending pay, promotions, and terminations.
- Participates in civic and professional activities to enhance the bank’s visibility in the community.
- Promotes favorable image of the Bank in all business activities within the community.
- Stays abreast of regulatory guidelines pertaining to lending.
- Manages branch delivery channels: Branch loan applications, deposit opening/servicing to ensure service levels are maintained or exceeded.
- Responsible for cross-selling deposit relationships to loan members.
- Stays informed of and uses/enforces Bank policies and procedures.
- Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the financial industry.
- A minimum of five years’ banking experience originating and underwriting commercial and small business loans is required.
- Knowledge of commercial loans and loan documentation.
- A strong understanding of credit underwriting, accounting and financial analysis.
- Experience leading a team of commercial lenders.
- Proven ability to recognize and focus on critical sales and service delivery issues and to balance and respond to competing role and organizational needs.
- Experience in credit policy, analysis, and regulatory practice.
- Utilizes outside training opportunities to expand knowledge and experience of the credit function.
