Director of Vocational Rehabilitation (In office Role)

Changing lives through meaningful employment.

Vocational Rehabilitation. What is it good for? Absolutely everything!

If you believe meaningful work changes lives, and you’re passionate about helping people build independence, confidence, and opportunity, this may be the role you’ve been looking for.

We’re seeking a dynamic, driven, and compassionate Director of Vocational Rehabilitation to lead a growing department that supports more than 200 clients and the 50 employees who help them succeed every day. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both leadership and direct service environments — someone who can coach a team, navigate systems, build partnerships, and still stay connected to the people behind the work.

From collaborating with Utah Workforce Services to managing the realities of placement, compliance, and client success, this role truly covers the gamut. The right leader will understand that vocational rehabilitation is not just about employment — it’s about dignity, purpose, and creating pathways for people who are too often overlooked.

What You’ll Do

The Director of Vocational Rehabilitation oversees the day-to-day operations of the Vocational Rehabilitation department, ensuring high-quality services, strong compliance, and positive outcomes for both clients and employees.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing client intake, case management, and discharge processes

  • Leading, coaching, and supporting department employees

  • Ensuring accurate timesheet review and payroll approvals

  • Monitoring billing accuracy and operational efficiency

  • Maintaining compliance with DSPD and Workforce Services regulations

  • Preparing monthly reports that assess trends, goals, and outcomes

  • Managing departmental budgets and operational priorities

  • Supporting department growth and performance initiatives

  • Responding effectively to changing priorities, emergencies, and operational challenges

What Success Looks Like

Our ideal candidate is experienced, approachable, detail-oriented, and deeply invested in quality services. They are someone who leads by example and believes accountability and compassion can coexist.

Successful candidates will:

  • Be confident managing both people and processes

  • Take pride in ensuring services are delivered with integrity and excellence

  • Prioritize client outcomes while supporting employees and organizational goals

  • Be calm, balanced, and solutions-focused under pressure

  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, staff, and leadership

  • Be highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Thrive in an environment where flexibility, adaptability, and initiative matter

This is a leadership role for someone who believes in continuous improvement and wants to make a lasting impact on the lives of others.
