Senior Buyer – Acquisition & Strategic Sourcing

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Buyer to join our Purchasing team. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence both new business acquisition and serial production purchasing activities, working cross-functionally with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Quality, and Finance.


The successful candidate will play a key role in developing sourcing strategies, supporting customer quotations, selecting and developing suppliers, driving cost competitiveness, and ensuring successful supplier performance throughout the product lifecycle. This position is ideal for a strategic procurement professional who thrives in a fast-paced automotive environment and enjoys balancing commercial negotiations, supplier management, acquisition support, and operational execution.

Your Mission

As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for driving purchasing excellence across both current and future business. You will lead sourcing initiatives, support acquisition activities, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to secure a competitive and resilient supply base.


Key Responsibilities

Acquisition & Program Sourcing

  • Lead sourcing activities supporting new business acquisition, customer quotations, and program launches.
  • Participate in cross-functional acquisition teams to develop competitive sourcing strategies and commercial assumptions.
  • Manage the full RFQ process including supplier identification, quotation analysis, negotiations, supplier nomination, and sourcing recommendations.
  • Support business growth initiatives by identifying new suppliers, technologies, materials, and cost-saving opportunities.


Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, customer requirements, and purchasing roadmaps.
  • Establish strong supplier relationships and serve as the primary commercial interface with strategic suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, tooling agreements, productivity commitments, and commercial terms.
  • Drive supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery, capacity, innovation, and sustainability objectives.


Program & Lifecycle Purchasing

  • Support programs throughout the entire lifecycle, from acquisition and launch preparation to serial production and end-of-life management.
  • Manage purchasing activities related to engineering changes, supplier transfers, resourcing actions, and capacity expansion projects.
  • Ensure supplier readiness and purchasing milestone achievement throughout the APQP and launch process.


Cost Optimization & Risk Management

  • Drive cost competitiveness through market analysis, should-cost modeling, benchmarking, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Lead productivity programs and track annual savings objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks while developing contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
  • Support localization initiatives and supply base optimization strategies.


Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Sales teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of purchasing systems and sourcing documentation (SAP, TEMPO, or equivalent tools).
  • Promote purchasing best practices, continuous improvement, and process discipline across the organization.
  • Support supplier escalation management and problem resolution activities.


What We Are Looking For

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's Degree is a plus.


Experience

  • 5 years of purchasing experience in automotive, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Strong experience supporting both new business acquisition and serial life purchasing activities.
  • Proven success leading strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and supplier development activities.
  • Knowledge of launch management, APQP processes, and automotive customer requirements preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strategic sourcing and supplier selection expertise.
  • Commercial negotiation and contract management experience.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and supply chain operations.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence decisions and drive alignment without direct authority.
  • Highly autonomous, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Languages

  • English required.
  • Spanish is a strong plus.
