JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for accounting functions primarily including accounts receivable, customer service and assisting with other day-to-day accounting related work.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the daily collection of payments from clients on behalf of the Company
-Process insured credit cards from payment processor
-Deposit “Live” check payments and apply to underwriting system
-Download lockbox deposit files from bank, review, verify and upload underwriting system
-Balance daily deposits (lockbox, online credit cards, and “Live” checks to bank account(s) and underwriting system
-Maintain daily Excel cash spreadsheet reflecting all deposits for bank reconciliation
-Ensure timely collection of payments
-Organize records of invoices, bills and deposits
-Investigate invoice/payment discrepancies – external (insured) and internal requests (underwriting)
- Respond to insured billing/account inquiries daily (phone and email)
- Coordinate with IT/Bank on any systems related payment issues
- Monitor overdue premium invoices and contact insureds for payment
- Prepare support for premium refund requests
- Produce weekly invoices for mailing
- Process Patient Compensation Fund payments to state agencies
- Identify and process financials adjustments resulting from policy changes and underwriting requests
- File and scan all related accounts receivable payments and accounts payable into imaging system
- Assist in voiding all check payments in source system and bank
- Assist with uncashed checks (unclaimed property/escheat function) for all check payments
- Assist with other day-to-day accounting related work
- Run various month end reports for management
- Special projects as assigned
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting or Finance preferred) or equivalent work experience
- Basic understanding of insurance industry accounting and terminology preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in similar capacity
Required Aptitudes and Skills:
- Computer literate, including Word, Excel
- Demonstrated experience with accounting systems
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines
- Prioritizes and plans work activities to use time efficiently
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and requests

Hiring Range: $64,750 - $73,653 (SF Bay Area applicants only)
