Primary Purpose:

The role of a Electrician/HVAC Technician l is to perform all work assigned by the HVAC Shop Supervisor and or Lead HVAC Journeyman, and assist and supervise apprentice.

Qualifications:

 

• High school diploma or equivalency
• Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain a good driving record
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Possess EPA 608 Universal Certification
• Knowledge of HAVC equipment
• Electrical trouble shooting knowledge of HVAC equipment
• Preferred knowledge in Energy Management Software
• Knowledge with Indoor Air Quality, ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines
• Knowledge in Preventative Maintenance on HVAC equipment
• Working with hand tools, HVAC specialties tools

 

 

Experience:

• Preferred minimum 3-year experience in the HVAC field

 

Job Description and/or Duties:

  1.  Operate and maintain company vehicle
  2.  Hold a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain a good driving record
  3.  Maintain and inspect tools
  4.  Provide great customer service with a positive attitude
  5.  Check in and out daily with the HVAC Supervisor
  6.  Perform HAVC inspections, and scheduled preventive maintenance as per the manufacturer recommendations
  7.  Change filters on HVAC equipment
  8.  Change belts as needed
  9.  Perform ductwork, pipe, and low voltage electrical wiring and controls related to HVAC
  10.  Required to work at various heights, in awkward positions, or tight spaces
  11.  Open and close work orders through computers or I-pads
  12.  Process completed paperwork, reports and purchase orders as needed
  13.  Order materials as needed to complete work assigned
  14.  Load and unload materials and equipment as necessary
  15.  Be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  16.  Work with other trades and shops on various projects, or work orders
  17.  Keep all work areas clean. Thorough clean up should be done at the end of all completed work
  18.  Always conform to the OSHA Safety industry standards
  19.  Always conform to the EPA industry standards, proper and legal handling of all hazardous and other waste, etc. storage and disposal
  20.  Conform to the District’s and Facilities Department policies
  21.  Perform other duties as assigned
  22.  Be available for emergency response and support, i.e., duties may require overtime, weekends, late night work and holiday work to perform the tasks required by LISD if an emergency arises

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains a functional awareness of the typical hazards of the workplace as well as the special hazards that maybe encountered by the trade. Promptly report accidents on the job. Prepare and submit accident reports to supervisor. Responsible for adhering to polices, practices, and procedures on safety and operational instructions.
  2. Comply with rules and regulations applicable to building codes
  3. Keep all equipment and tools operating properly, safely and in accordance with applicable codes and related safety regulations and recommendations
  4. Support board and administrative policies and decisions
  5. Maintain professional work environment through a positive attitude, punctuality, regular attendance, phone etiquette, personal appearance, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  6. As assigned; repair, construct, and install HVAC and related systems and components. Repair/replacement of HVAC systems for all AISD facilities
  7. Performs work according to codes, manufacturer’s specifications, Department and trade guidelines and standards
  8. Continue to learn and develop in the field
  9. Willing to acquire job related license(s) that may be required
  10. May be required to obtain an asbestos license, lead management or other license(s) as deemed necessary

Working Conditions:

  1. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  2. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  3. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  4. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  5. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
