About Us

We are an established water treatment services provider serving municipal, commercial, and industrial clients across Michigan and several other U.S. states. Our team of approximately 50 employees operates out of five locations in Michigan, New Jersey, and Illinois. We specialize in utility management, operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, industrial pretreatment, private developer services, and customer billing solutions.

We are seeking a highly capable Utility Operations Manager to join our Detroit Metro–based team. This individual will play a pivotal role in managing multiple water and wastewater utilities and service operations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Position Overview

The Utility Operations Manager supervises a team of approximately 10 staff members and ensures regulatory compliance, operational reliability, customer satisfaction, and financial performance across assigned utilities. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail oriented, and able to prioritize multiple ongoing responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 10; prioritize workload and oversee project manager deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with water distribution sampling and state/federal regulations.
  • Coordinate emergency call-outs, providing direct support when necessary.
  • Direct and oversee the work of third-party contractors.
  • Manage monthly financial performance of assigned utilities.
  • Respond promptly to resident inquiries and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Attend municipal council and committee meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with municipal consultants and provide technical support.
  • Work with office staff to ensure optimal performance of customer utility billing systems.
  • Coordinate with internal managers to prepare and issue monthly invoices.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as the Operator in Charge for water utilities.
  • Maintain active Michigan Class B water or wastewater operator certification (required).

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5–10 years of directly related experience required.
  • Experience in the water utility industry required.
  • Michigan Class B Water or Wastewater Operator Certification required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
