TITLE: Sr. Electrical Controls Technician
SALARY: $32-35/hr
LOCATION: Houston, TX area
WORK HOURS: 8:00 am – 5 pm – (Field Based Role – Company Truck Provided)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Electrical Controls Technician to join our dedicated field service team. This hands-on, field-based role is perfect for individuals who enjoy troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical control systems within water and wastewater facilities. Your expertise will ensure the reliable operation of vital infrastructure while providing exceptional customer service across various sites in the region. Key Responsibilities:
• Travel to customer sites (typically 1–2 hours away) to perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on electrical control systems and components.
• Diagnose issues within control panels, wiring, instrumentation, and field communications.
• Perform electrical work safely and accurately, including wiring terminations, conduit work, and circuit testing.
• Assist in the installation of new control panels, VFDs, transmitters, flowmeters, and PLC/SCADA systems.
• Interface with customers in the field, communicating clearly and professionally.
• Document all work performed using company software (training provided).
• Maintain the company vehicle and tools in a professional and organized manner.
• Participate in occasional after-hours service calls when needed.
Requirements:
• 7 years of experience as an electrician, controls technician, or in a related IT / communications / cabling role.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems (120/240/480V), wiring, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Knowledge of control systems and instrumentation.
• Excellent mechanical and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel 1–2 hours to customer sites (company truck provided).
• Ability to work outdoors in various field conditions.
• Team-oriented attitude with strong communication and professionalism.
• Basic computer literacy (email, work orders, mobile apps).
• Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, or automation systems is a plus but not required — training will be provided for the right candidate.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed in both office settings and in the field outside, often in outdoor environmental conditions.
MUST HAVES FOR ROLE:
- Utility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.
- Safety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards.
- Candidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
