What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer: Program Design Strategy for Veteran Agriculture and Wellness Initiative position at Operation Meraki?
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.
We have an idea for a new program that we would like to pilot. We would like to tap the assistance of someone with a background in program design to help create a step-by-step plan for building, executing, and evaluating the impact of this pilot. We are seeking an experienced program designer to help Operation Meraki structure a new initiative that combines urban agriculture with integrative health coaching for veterans. Over the next few weeks, we need your expertise to translate our vision into a scalable, evidence-based program framework. Specific tasks include: Developing a clear logic model that connects our activities to measurable outcomes. Mapping the veteran participant journey from intake to program graduation. Defining key performance indicators (KPIs) to track success and support future grant applications. Creating a basic resource map outlining the staffing, equipment, and time required to run the program effectively.
Operation Meraki is dedicated to empowering veterans as they transition into civilian life. By helping us design this program, you will directly enable us to provide veterans with a renewed sense of purpose through hands-on urban agriculture and holistic health coaching. A well-structured program design not only ensures we deliver high-quality, impactful services to our community but also provides the data-backed framework needed to secure crucial funding. Your expertise will be the catalyst that brings this life-changing community project from concept to reality.
Our leadership team is fully committed to this initiative, and we have already secured internal buy-in from our board. To ensure we hit the ground running, I have compiled a detailed project folder containing our current rough outlines, demographic research on local Ohio veterans, and our organizational strategic plan. I am prepared to act as an active, responsive partner throughout this process. Once the program design is complete, our team will immediately use these deliverables to finalize our upcoming grant proposals and launch the program's pilot phase.
Operation Meraki Mission: We challenge and change the veteran transition landscape by helping our service members and their families bridge from the uniform to build new professional and personal lives. We help people create their next life mission We do this through our Scout to Pathfinder program
