Operation Helo was formed in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, with volunteers from Hickory, North Carolina coming together to deliver essential supplies by helicopter to isolated communities. Initially an impromptu effort, it has grown into a dedicated mission of compassion, resilience, and teamwork, aiding regions from Banner Elk to Asheville. Our volunteer pilots, alongside search and rescue teams, bring critical relief to those hardest-hit by disasters. Our mission is simple: when disaster strikes, we fly.
We also stay to assist and see to long term recovery. We’ve learned that for various reason a large majority of those impacted by a significant weather event slip through the cracks. Our goal is to see that doesnt happen.
Role Description
This is a contract remote role for a Major Gifts Officer. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with major donors, conducting prospect research, and developing planned and annual giving strategies. Day-to-day tasks include engaging with potential donors, preparing proposals, coordinating donor recognition activities, and working closely with the alumni relations team to enhance philanthropic efforts.
Qualifications
- Experience in Planned Giving and Annual Giving strategies
- Proficient in Prospect Research and Philanthropy
- Strong skills in Alumni Relations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or related field, fundraising experience
