Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade
At Breakthrough Academy, a new Missouri Charter School located at Operation Breakthrough, teachers are essential to ensuring that all of our students succeed academically and build strong social-emotional skills. Teachers will build inclusive classroom communities (through the use of Conscious Discipline) where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to learn every day. Teachers at our school will collaborate with STEM instructors to provide high-quality, project-based learning experiences that engage students in applying their learning to solve real world problems. JOB SUMMARY
Breakthrough Academy is a newly approved Missouri Charter Elementary School opening in 2026. Key responsibilities include fostering a love of science, technology, engineering, math and reading through engaging, hands-on activities, while also ensuring students meet academic standards in core subjects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree and Missouri Elementary Teaching Certificate
- Strong oral and written communication skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Instruction and Curriculum:
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in math, reading, science, and language arts, with a strong focus on STEM integration.
- Develop and implement project-based learning activities that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
- Utilize technology effectively to enhance instruction and student learning.
- Create and maintain a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Student Assessment and Progress:
- Regularly assess student learning through various methods, including formative and summative assessments.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and families.
- Track student progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed.
- Prepare students for standardized tests.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other teachers, specialists, and administrators to ensure a cohesive and effective educational program.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Classroom Management:
- Use Conscious Discipline to maintain a positive and safe learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to minimize disruptions and maximize learning time.
- Manage student behavior and address concerns in a fair and consistent manner.
- STEM Integration:
- Integrate STEM concepts and activities into all subject areas.
- Encourage student creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
- Provide opportunities for students to explore different STEM fields through hands-on projects and activities.
