Position Overview
Open Window School is a K–8 independent school located on Cougar Mountain, centrally situated between Bellevue, Issaquah, and Newcastle. Each summer, Open Window School offers a five-week enrichment program serving students entering Kindergarten through 7th grade from the local community.
The Summer Lead Teacher – STEM Specialist is responsible for planning and leading hands-on science, technology, engineering, and problem-solving experiences for campers entering Kindergarten through 4th grade. Campers attend STEM twice per week in 45-minute blocks, with lessons intentionally designed to build across both weekly sessions.

Compensation: $1,700 per week ($42.50/hour)
Classification: Seasonal (June 29 – August 7)
Hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Training: Required attendance at all or a portion of in-person training sessions at Open Window School, June 29 – July 2

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old by June 1, 2026
- Experience or training in STEM or a related field preferred
- Experience working with children in an organized setting preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred
- Plan and lead developmentally appropriate, engaging STEM lessons
- Design lessons that intentionally build across two weekly sessions
- Prepare, organize, and manage materials and supplies
- Ensure safe use of tools and materials at all times
- Maintain strong classroom management and a positive learning environment
- Collaborate with counselors and camp staff to support camper engagement
- Welcome campers and families in a warm, professional manner
- Support Morning Care and help establish a positive start to each day
- Participate in daily morning and afternoon rallies
- Support overall camp supervision and transitions as needed
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement engaging, hands-on activities within the STEM specialty area
- Lead lessons while ensuring camper safety at all times
- Supervise and collaborate with counselors to deliver effective programming
- Maintain and organize materials and equipment for activities
- Communicate with administrative staff regarding scheduling and safety concerns
- Attend required pre-season training, staff meetings, and perform additional duties as assigned
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Physical stamina to lead activities and manage materials throughout the day
- Professional discretion in interactions with campers and staff
