Job Description

•Obtain, evaluate, and record patient history in medical file •Obtain and measure vital signs and record information on patients' charts

•Use thermometer, scales, sphygmomanometer/stethoscope, scalp vein needles, hearing/vision screening equipment, pulse oximetry, typanometer, basic laboratory, i.e., microscope, centrifuge, hematology analyzer, and specimen collection

•Prepare and maintain examination/treatment rooms, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and inventory of medical supplies and materials

•Assist in the examination of patients under the direction of a physician

•Explain treatment procedures to patients

•May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis

•Prepare and administer oral medications and routine immunizations

•Perform routine diagnostic and laboratory tests

•Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

•Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing school required

•Valid Texas LVN license required

•BLS (CPR & AED) certification issued by the American Heart Association required

•Previous nursing experience in a Clinic/Outpatient environment preferred

•Proficiency in Spanish is preferred
