What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Accountant position at Open Health Care Clinics?
Job Purpose:
The Junior Accountant is an entry level accounting job with minimal experience required with the demonstration of a strong desire to grow in the profession and an ability to learn and apply new skills quickly.
Essential Job Functions including, but not limited to:
1. General ledger maintenance
o Prepares and posts general ledger journal entries.
o Posts A/P and A/R transactions
o Reconciles balance sheet accounts.
o Prepares and maintains subledgers such as revenue, payroll, fixed assets.
2. Reconciles bank and cash accounts
o Prepare bank deposits for all payments received in the accounting department.
o Posts all deposit information in the accounting system for deposits made in other departments.
o Printing bank reconciliation source documents from online bank sites.
o Request necessary back up documentation from Billing staff to complete cash entries and reconciliations.
3. Accounts Payable process.
o Assist the Accounts Payable Coordinator in processing invoices as needed.
o Responsible for reconciling all credit card accounts monthly.
4. Accounts Receivable process
o Receives and posts to general ledger all payments received on account.
o Reconciles payments received to customer accounts.
o Reconciles accounts receivable subledger balance to general ledger.
5. Other Duties
o Assist other accounting staff in scanning and filing documents.
o Demonstrates eagerness to learn and assume responsibility; seeks out and accepts increased responsibility; displays a "can do" approach to work.
o Shows persistence and seeks alternatives when obstacles arise; seeks alternative solutions; does things before being asked or forced to by events.

o Accepts direction and feedback from supervisors and follows through appropriately.
o Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for work or when absent; observes policies on break and lunch periods; uses work time appropriately.
o Special projects and tasks as assigned.
Skills, Licensure and Knowledge Requirements:
Valid LA Driver’s License
Ability to pass an auto insurance carrier review required.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.
