GENERAL JOB DUTIES
The Job Developer/Coach will assist individuals with disabilities in locating and maintaining competitive, integrated employment. Engage in business development designed to establish business partnerships for the promotion of employment of people with disabilities. Assist with outreach with schools, families, and businesses. Provide direct services and support to individuals on job sites, with the goal of assisting the employee with a disability in achieving independence in their employment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Provide job site training assistance to individuals supported in community-based jobs.
- Make and maintain contact with area businesses, employment agencies and other available community resources for the purpose of placement opportunities in the area for employment opportunities.
- Maintain a record of contacts, placement openings, person referred, and action taken.
- Assist individuals with job development by guiding them throughout both in-person and online job search activities such as job applications, interviewing and the stages of the hiring process. Support may also involve setting up email accounts, uploading resumes, and tracking application statuses.
- Ensure placements of individuals in a variety of settings.
- Maintain contact with sites regarding the progress of placements and satisfaction with the program.
- Assist in the development of natural supports within the work environment.
- Coordinate transportation, train individuals on obtaining transportation, and when necessary, provide transportation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Service Related Field (Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Recreation, Sociology, etc)
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly in community-based, integrated, competitive employment settings preferred, however not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with businesses, schools, families, and community partners.
- Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Computer proficiency required, including Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn agency specific systems.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to agency insurer; access to a personal vehicle for local travel (mileage reimbursement provided in accordance with company policy).
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude, with a commitment to promoting inclusion, accessibility, and independence for individuals with disabilities.
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must Pass Pre-Employment Physical (including ability to lift/push/pull 50lbs)
- Be at least 21 years old (for Open Door vehicle insurance requirements)
