The Operations Director serves as the key leader and ambassador of the Open Door Food Pantry, responsible for executing the organization’s mission to nourish our community with dignity. The Director oversees daily operations, leads and supports volunteers, organizes and manages resources, supports community partnerships, and ensures the pantry continues to meet the growing needs of Butler County with compassion and excellence. The Director serves as a non-voting member of the Board and as a member of other Board committees as agreed. This is a part-time job with occasional evening and weekend time requirements that are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Responsibilities: Mission & Leadership
· Champion the pantry’s mission and values in all decisions and interactions.
· Actively participate in strategic planning and guide organizational growth.
· Serve as the public face of the pantry, strengthening visibility and trust.
Responsibilities: Operations & Program Management
· Oversee daily pantry operations to ensure smooth, safe, and dignified service.
· Maintain compliance with food safety, regulatory requirements, and partner-agency standards.
· Monitor program performance and implement improvements as needed.
· Ensure accurate data collection and reporting, e.g. client numbers, non-cash donations, volunteer hours, inventory, food costs, etc.
· Coordinate food/supply purchases and acceptance of donated food/supplies to best meet fiscal and client needs.
· Maintain interior premises and equipment, and vehicle(s) to reinforce “dignity,” while also alerting to needs for exterior maintenance and all repair requirements.
· Maintain pantry’s vehicle, e.g. preventative maintainence appointments, DMV registration, etc.
Responsibilities: Volunteer Management
· Partner with Pantry’s Volunteer Coordinator to train, support, and supervise volunteers.
· Support a positive, collaborative team culture rooted in compassion and respect.
· Establish and maintain clear workflows and expectations.
Responsibilities: Community Partnerships & Engagement
· Support relationships with businesses, churches, schools, civic groups, and community partners.
· Represent the pantry at community events, meetings, and collaborations.
· Respond to email and phone inquiries directly and/or in partnership with the Board.
Responsibilities: Financial Management
· Partner with the Board Treasurer to develop and manage the annual budget.
· Monitor spending/budget and approving/submitting invoices to bookkeeper while ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
· Support accurate financial records and reporting in partnership with the Board Treasurer.
· Initiate donation processing, manage expense account ledger assignments (esp. for pantry credit card), and support tax filing documentation requirements.

· Provide regular operational and financial updates to the Board per examples detailed above.
· Support Board committees and help with Board development and recruitment.
· Align operations with Board priorities and organizational strategy.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
