Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Field Manager-Traffic Control/Permitting Specialist to oversee traffic management and permitting operations on construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, construction site procedures, and utility locating. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with various construction machinery and a solid background in construction project coordination, ensuring safety compliance and efficient workflow.
Duties
- Coordinate and manage traffic control plans in accordance with local regulations and project requirements.
- Obtain necessary permits for construction activities, ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted timely.
- Supervise the setup and maintenance of traffic control devices, including signage, barriers, and flagging operations.
- Oversee heavy equipment operation including dozer, loader, backhoe, front loader truck, dump truck, grader, and other heavy machinery.
- Conduct utility locating to identify underground utilities before excavation or construction activities begin.
- Monitor construction site safety protocols related to traffic control and heavy equipment operation.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and local authorities to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain detailed records of permits, inspections, and operational activities for compliance purposes.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on equipment use and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction site management with a focus on traffic control and permitting processes.
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as dozer, loader, backhoe, grader, dump truck, and front loader truck.
- Knowledge of utility locating techniques and safety standards related to underground utilities.
- Familiarity with construction equipment brands such as Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety regulations and traffic management best practices.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with contractors, local authorities, and team members.
- Valid certifications related to heavy equipment operation or traffic control are preferred but not mandatory. This position offers an opportunity to lead critical aspects of construction projects while ensuring safety compliance and operational efficiency in a dynamic environment.
