Development Intern
Temporary position
This is a 35-hour/week temporary position running from May 18 to August 21, 2026. The internship offers a total stipend of $7,350, paid bi-weekly over the 14-week period. Please note that taxes are not withheld, and the position does not include benefits, such as vacation or holiday leave.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning and execution of SOAR NWA fundraising event
- Design, schedule and track social media posts
- Respond to social media posts and messages
- Assist with event permit
- Design signage, banners, passes, etc.
- Design ads
- Assist Volunteer Chair with recruitment and signup schedule
- Create volunteer video
- Update event website
- Help solicit sponsorship support
- Create TikTok highlighting this year’s event
- Donor Database Management to include entering donor gifts and printing receipts on a weekly basis
- Assist with Open Avenues social media, including creating and replying to posts
- Help research grant opportunities and draft submissions
- Assist with other development and fundraising support
Eligibility:
Candidates must be a currently enrolled college student who will be returning as a full-time (12 credit hours) sophomore, junior or senior in the fall of 2026, and legally eligible to work in the United States. Pursuing a degree in nonprofit management, communications, public relations, journalism, design or event planning preferred.
Background check/Drug screening:
This position requires a criminal background check, adult maltreatment check, child abuse and neglect check, as well as drug testing.
Qualifications:
- Ability to take initiative, show good judgement, and manage projects from beginning to end
- Excellent design, writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to anticipate next steps or needs
- Understanding of and ability to utilize social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and measurement tools
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to design graphics for social media posts and event posters/flyers
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills
