Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems, to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions using modalities such as psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure patient safety during acute episodes.
- Facilitate intake procedures for new patients and maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop case management plans tailored to each patient’s needs, including working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Utilize telehealth platforms effectively to provide remote counseling services while maintaining high standards of patient care and confidentiality.
- Engage in clinical research activities and data collection efforts to support ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; licensure or certification as required by state law.
- Proven experience in behavioral health settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, or hospital environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical records management.
- Expertise in evidence-based practices including psychopharmacology, addiction counseling, grief counseling, PTSD care, and gender issues counseling.
- Skilled in crisis management techniques and behavior management strategies for diverse populations.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, geriatrics, or individuals with disabilities; familiarity with special education is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and telehealth technology; understanding of HIPAA compliance standards is essential.
