Job Title: On-Call or Part-Time Milieu Therapist
Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient program clients.
- Provide direct assistance throughout day by means of:
- eating with clients at meals and snack times
- monitoring bathroom use for eating disordered behaviors
- observing and supporting clients during breaks and transitions in programming
- Assist staff dietitians with tasks related to client care, including preparing food/meals/snacks, eating with clients, doing dishes, grocery shopping with clients, cleaning/tidying kitchen, etc.
- Assist staff therapists with tasks related to client care, including co-facilitating various therapy groups, offering therapeutic support to clients during meals, and doing 1:1 brief support check-ins, etc.
- Maintain clinical documentation and other administrative tasks required for competent care
- Collaborate with other members of a dynamic, multidisciplinary treatment team
- Help with training new milieu staff
- Perform front desk administrative tasks, including front desk coverage, as needed
- Stay up to date with the front desk coverage plan, with follow up training as needed
Requirements:
- An Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or working towards bachelor’s degree. Emphasis in the study of Psychology desired but not required.
- Experience and/or understanding of eating disorders is highly desired; experience in other mental health field beneficial.
- Exhibit a high degree of confidentiality and personal boundary setting.
- Openness to learn new skills and take risks.
- Able to address conflict with directness and compassion.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal skills and willingness to be assertive in the interest of client’s treatment needs
- Comfortable with basics of nutrition, ie meal planning, basic cooking skills, grocery shopping, etc.
- Experience using cultural humility interpersonally around topics such as food, health, weight, religion, etc.
- Live, behave and talk in a way that reflects a non-diet, non-weight biased relationship with food and body.
- Alignment with a Health at Every Size and a weight-inclusive approach to healthcare.
Hours:
Between 7:30am - 6:30pm Monday-Friday. Hours would be determined at time of hire. Could be between 8-24 hours a week.
Compensation:
- $22.50-24.50 / hour
Vaccines:
All Opal staff are required to be fully vaccinated with either a two-shot series of an mRNA vaccine or the one-shot J&J vaccine, along with a booster of an mRNA vaccine and Bivalent covid vaccination by December 15, 2022 (if it has been the recommended length of time from your last vaccination). As the CDC updates its recommendation on boosters, we ask our staff to comply with the most current recommendations regarding vaccinations and boosters. Annual flu shots are required by December 15th of each year.
