Project Reconciliation Accountant

Position Summar

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance department for a critical project-based role. The primary objective of this position is to audit, reconcile, and close out legacy projects within PeopleSoft and Euna financial systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in auditing, a deep understanding of GAAP, and the ability to independently navigate complex financial data to resolve outstanding issues

Key Responsibilities

• Project Audit & Reconciliation: Conduct comprehensive reviews of historical project data to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy
• Grant & Award Compliance: Review Notice of Awards and grant requirements to ensure all project activities remain in full compliance with fiscal policies
• Financial Processing: Prepare and post journal entries and process revenue transactions within PeopleSoft to facilitate project finalization
• Project Close-out: Coordinate with internal finance teams to finalize documentation and officially close out completed projects
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a subject matter expert, working independently while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders to resolve complex financial discrepancies

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent professional experience
• Experience: 2–4 years of direct accounting or auditing experienc
• Technical Expertise
• Strong proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Audit Standards (GAAS
• Hands-on experience with PeopleSoft (minimum 2 years
• Working knowledge of governmental accounting, budgeting, and fiscal policies
• Soft Skills: Ability to thrive under pressure, exercise professional diplomacy, and conduct independent research to recommend effective solutions for complex issue

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in state government accounting
• Familiarity with Euna Financial & Grants software
