What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales & Business Development Coordinator — Custom Apparel position at ONYX INK?
Sales & Business Development Coordinator — Custom Apparel
ONYX INK | Doral, FL | Full-Time | On-site
ONYX INK is a growing custom apparel decoration company specializing in screen printing, DTF, embroidery, and promotional products, serving schools, teams, local businesses, corporate clients, and distributors across South Florida. This is a high-impact role with a defined path to leadership as the company grows.
About the role
This position is responsible for both sides of the sales function. On the inbound side, you are the first point of contact for customers who call, email, or visit our showroom — converting inquiries into orders and one-time customers into repeat accounts. On the outbound side, you will actively develop new business by prospecting distributors, wholesale and contract decoration accounts, corporate clients, and schools, building a consistent pipeline for the production team.
In addition to sales responsibilities, you will keep front-of-house operations organized, partner directly with the CEO on company growth initiatives, and, if necessary, support the production floor during high-volume periods.
Proactive by design
This role is structured so that there is always productive work to be done. When inbound activity slows, the expectation shifts to pipeline development: outbound outreach, reactivating dormant accounts, following up on open quotes, preparing trade show and distributor prospect lists, maintaining the CRM, and proposing new initiatives to leadership. Candidates should be comfortable managing their own priorities and generating results without day-to-day direction.
Responsibilities — Sales & account growth
- Quote and close inbound jobs across screen printing, DTF, embroidery, and promotional products
- Prospect and open new accounts through outbound outreach by phone, email, and LinkedIn, including trade show lead follow-up
- Identify upsell opportunities across decoration methods, garment upgrades, and add-on items
- Follow up on open quotes and manage ongoing relationships with existing accounts (schools, teams, local businesses, corporate clients, and distributors)
- Manage orders from quote to delivery, including order entry, art approvals, production scheduling, and customer updates
- Conducts outreach via phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings
- Handle invoicing and accounts receivable coordination
Responsibilities — Operations & growth support
- Order blanks and shop supplies; manage inventory levels
- Greet showroom visitors and represent ONYX INK professionally
- Manage the company's social media presence, with a primary focus on Instagram
- Partner with the CEO on growth initiatives, including the adoption of AI and emerging technologies to improve sales efficiency, customer communication, and operational workflows
- Provide production floor support when needed during high-volume periods
- Represent ONYX INK at industry trade shows (approximately 10% travel)
Qualifications
- A self-starter: able to structure your own workday, identify what needs to be done, and bring new ideas forward
- 2 years of experience in a screen printing, embroidery, DTF, or decorated apparel shop (candidates must already be fluent in ink colors, stitch counts, garment brands, Pantone matching, mockups, and production minimums)
- Bilingual English/Spanish — required
- Proven inside sales experience and demonstrated comfort with outbound prospecting and cold outreach
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage 30 open orders simultaneously
- Proficient in learning our shop management software quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working on-site in a production environment if needed
Preferred (not required)
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Canva, or basic art file preparation
- Existing contacts in the South Florida apparel/promotional products or distributor market
- Trade show or wholesale account experience
- Career-minded, with an interest in growing within the industry
Compensation & opportunity
- Base salary plus sales commission and new-account/upsell bonuses
- Defined advancement path to Director of Accounts & Sales as the company scales
- Trade show travel and industry exposure
- Direct-impact role with input into how the business grows
