Systems Engineer - Human SpaceflightPosition SummaryOnyx Aerospace Inc. is seeking an Experienced Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) team.This role supports a next-generation commercial low-Earth-orbit destination through system-level integration, technical baseline management, and cross-program coordination. The ideal candidate has experience in complex aerospace development environments, human spaceflight system development, and certification of human-rated systems. The candidate should be fluent in digital engineering practices and thrive in fast-moving, multi-organization engineering ecosystems.Key Responsibilities• Lead and support program-level SE&I activities across a commercial space station architecture.• Perform requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability, and V&V planning.• Support human spaceflight certification processes, including NASA safety and mission assurance expectations. This includes Hazard Analysis and Controls implementation.• Manage system and interface integration across subsystems and segment teams.• Own or support Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and interface definition.• Maintain technical baseline integrity and lead configuration and change management workflows.• Use digital engineering and MBSE toolchains to support system modeling and PLM integration.• Engage suppliers for technical oversight, requirement flowdown, and integration.• Collaborate with IPTs and Segment Leads to ensure coordinated development.• Support creation of certification documentation, including Certification Data Packages (CDPs) and safety review artifacts.Required Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related field.• 5–10 years of aerospace systems engineering experience.• Experience supporting human spaceflight development or human-rated system certification.• Familiarity with NASA systems engineering and certification frameworks (NPR 7120.5, NPR 7123.1, NASA-STD-3001).• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Cameo.• Experience with configuration management, change management, and technical baseline control.• Strong communication and interdisciplinary integration skills.Preferred Qualifications• Experience with Commercial LEO Destination (CLD) programs or NASA certification efforts.• Experience generating certification artifacts, verification and validation events and records, and supporting safety review panels.• Experience with PLM systems and digital engineering ecosystems.• Supplier integration and subcontractor technical management experience.• Experience preparing artifacts for major program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR).
Salary : $103,700 - $140,300
