Our client is looking for a temporary eCommerce Forecasting Analyst to join their team ASAP. This analyst will be responsible for developing, publishing, and maintaining daily forecasts for key business metrics such as visits/traffic, conversion rates, revenue, and orders. This role utilizes historical data, seasonality trends, and known business drivers—including promotional campaigns and onsite changes—to provide accurate and actionable forecasts for the eCommerce team.
This role’s core deliverables are:
1) A daily KPI forecast for visits/traffic, conversion rate, revenue, and orders
2) A forecast accuracy workbook that tracks forecast versus actual performance, error rates by day and week, bias, and identifies key drivers impacting results.
eCommerce Forecasting Analyst Responsibilities:
- Build, publish, and maintain daily forecasts for visits/traffic, conversion rate, revenue, and orders, using historical patterns, seasonality, and known business drivers (promo cadence, campaigns, onsite changes).
- Track forecast accuracy and bias over time; build a simple but robust “forecast vs. actual” operating loop.
- Create a disciplined forecast refresh cadence (daily/weekly) and maintain documentation of assumptions and model versions.
- Produce forecast outputs that are easy for business partners to use in routine performance reporting and decision-making.
- Partner with Analytics Lead, Digital to align metric definitions and data sources and maintain a clear mapping of which system is authoritative by KPI (example: visits vs. orders/revenue often come from different systems).
- Monitor for data anomalies that can corrupt forecasting inputs (e.g., unusual traffic inflation) and partner on mitigation approaches and adjustments.
- Build credibility through transparent methodology, clear documentation, and consistent delivery.
- Perform variance attribution (what drove misses: traffic volume, conversion shifts, reporting delays, campaign mix, etc.) and convert learnings into model improvements.
eCommerce Forecasting Analyst Qualifications:
- 4 years in analytics, forecasting, or performance measurement roles for eCommerce businesses (Combined eComm & Retail experience a plus)
- Demonstrated experience with time series forecasting or statistical modeling applied to business KPIs (traffic, conversion, orders, demand).
- Strong communication skills: can explain forecast changes and data issues to non-technical partners.
