Summary
The Fellow provides competent, compassionate patient care, work effectively as a member of the health care team and meet the educational goals of the Fellowship. A Fellow’s education involves supervised, progressively complex and independent patient evaluation, patient management functions and formal educational activities which emphasize learning clinical skills necessary to prevent, diagnosis and treat, and day to day related injuries with evidence-based medicine as well as non-surgical solutions. YRMC fellow must meet the qualifications for fellowship eligibility as outlined in the Essentials of Accredited Graduate Medical Education in American Medical Association's Graduate Medical Education Directory and as stated in the Resident Selection Criteria Policy of the YRMC Office of Graduate Medical Education.
Responsibilities
Performs routine and emergent radiologic examinations or procedures including obtaining and documenting pertinent patient history, explaining the procedures to the patient, answering the patient's questions, and gaining the patient's written consent.
Works closely with the Radiologists and/or Interventionalists and other inter and intra departmental healthcare team members to ensure proper delivery of coordinated services, to include assisting in other modalities.
Uses safe radiation practices according to ARRA regulations and licensing restrictions while using "common sense" approaches to everyday issues, such as reducing dose exposures to neonatal and adolescent patients.
Coaches and mentors newly reported Radiologic Technologists, team members and and students (i.e. agency, seasonal, transfers, new hires).
Exercises fiscal responsibility by ensuring proper inventory control and prudent uses of existing resources, as defined by the department leadership/Clinical Resource Coordinator. Ensures equipment is properly maintained and proactively addresses all equipment concerns.
Complies with department standards for on-call and rotational scheduling at assigned locations - Yuma Regional Medical Center Main Campus, Foothills Imaging Center, Outpatient Diagnostic Imaging and/or Cardiac Cath Lab areas.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
