Overview
We are seeking a motivated Junior Microsoft Systems Engineer to join our growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) team. This role is ideal for candidates who have foundational experience with Microsoft technologies and are eager to expand their skills across diverse client environments. You will support a wide variety of infrastructures including on‐premises Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and hybrid cloud environments, providing technical expertise, troubleshooting, and solutions that help keep our clients secure, stable, and productive.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Operations
- Provide Tier 1–2 technical support for MSP clients across on‐premise, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Respond to tickets, service requests, and escalations within defined SLAs.
- Perform root‐cause analysis on recurring issues and propose long-term fixes.
Microsoft 365 & Azure Administration
- Support administration of Microsoft 365 tenants, including:
- Exchange Online
- Teams
- SharePoint Online
- OneDrive
- Azure AD user/group management
- Assist with identity management tasks including conditional access, MFA, and SSO configurations.
- Help deploy, manage, and troubleshoot hybrid identity components such as Azure AD Connect.
On‐Premises & Hybrid Infrastructure
- Support Windows Server environments (2012 R2–2025), including:
- Active Directory
- DNS/DHCP
- Group Policy
- File/Print services
- Monitor and maintain physical and virtualized infrastructure (Hyper‐V Clusters, Hyper-V stand alone, and VMware).
- Upgrade On-Premise Server environments from older versions to current versions of Windows server where required.
- Assist with transitions from on‐premise to cloud services and hybrid architecture deployments.
Backup, Security, and Monitoring
- Monitor and manage client backup systems (Datto, Altaro, Veeam, etc.).
- Assist with security patching and vulnerability remediation.
- Maintain monitoring tools to proactively detect and escalate system issues.
- Maintain monitoring tools and work with our security partners to proactively detect, escalate and mitigate cyber security issues.
Project Assistance
- Support senior engineers in project deployments, migrations, and upgrades.
- Execute Project tasks
- Help develop and implement rollback strategies for project tasks that can cause production outages during required upgrades.
- Document configurations, procedures, and changes accurately using MSP systems (PSA/RMM).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or a junior systems role (MSP experience highly preferred).
- 1-3 years of experience in an IT junior systems role.
- Intermediate knowledge of:
- Windows Server administration
- Active Directory / Group Policy
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
- Strong TCP-IP networking skills including a thorough understanding of IPV4 including experience troubleshooting IP communication issues.
- Experience supporting hybrid environments (on‐prem AD Azure AD).
- Familiarity with RMM/PSA tools (Kaseya, Datto, N-able, ConnectWise etc.).
- Strong customer service attitude and ability to communicate with non-technical users.
- Basic to intermediate skills and experience with Firewalls including application proxies, NAT, and firewall issue troubleshooting skills.
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting branch office VPN tunnels.
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting mobile user VPN tunnels.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced MSP environment.
- Eagerness to learn and grow technical abilities.
- Professional communication and documentation habits.
- Some experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper‐V, VMware).
- Basic PowerShell scripting or automation knowledge.
- At least 1 Certification ( such as: )
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator / Fundamentals
- Azure Administrator (AZ‐104)
- CompTIA Network or Security
- WatchGuard Certifications (Network Security, Secure Wi-Fi, Multi-Factor Authentication, etc.)
- Kaseya or Datto MSP Professional certifications, various tracks
- Some experience with Exchange Server and hybrid email configurations.
