Overview
Ontario Surgery Center provides ophthalmic care to our community. We are looking for a Sterile Processing Technician to play a crucial role in the healthcare environment by ensuring all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. This position is essential for patient safety and infection control within the medical facility. The technician will work closely with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals to ensure that all sterile supplies are available and ready for use.
This position requires medical or dental experience. The schedule will be Wednesdays each week with times ranging from 7 am - 5 pm. Pay is $19/hr DOE. Growth opportunities in the future.
Duties
- Perform cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate inventory management of sterile supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during the processing of instruments.
- Collaborate with surgical staff to understand specific needs for upcoming procedures.
- Document sterilization processes and maintain records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to apply aseptic techniques consistently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills requirement to maintain accurate records.
