Integrated Services Advocate - Thurs to Sat

Hours: Weekender Thurs-Fri-Sat from 12:30 to 10:30pm and as needed

Organizational Overview

The Onslow Victims Center (OVC) provides free and confidential services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Services include 24/7 crisis response, emergency shelter, hospital advocacy, court advocacy, community case management, prevention education, and resource navigation. OVC operates a 27-bed emergency shelter and collaborates closely with healthcare providers, law enforcement, courts, military advocacy programs, and community partners.

Essential Functions:

Primarily based in the emergency shelter, the Integrated Services Advocate provides flexible, trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking across multiple service areas, including shelter, court, crisis response, and community advocacy. This role helps ensure continuity of care by responding to crisis calls, supporting protective order processes, assisting with shelter intake and safety planning, connecting survivors to resources, and maintaining accurate documentation. By cross training across programs, the advocate helps ensure survivors receive timely, coordinated support wherever they enter services, strengthening safety, stability, and access to options.

Duties and Responsibilities

GENERAL ADVOCACY

· Provide Trauma informed care grounded in empowerment, dignity, and non-judgment

· Support survivor autonomy without directing decisions or outcomes

· Maintain a strengths-based approach that recognizes resilience and capacity

· Ensure services are inclusive and responsive to diverse identities, backgrounds, and experiences

· Crisis intervention and emotional support

Shelter Specific

· Supervised by Shelter Leadership

· Admission Intake assessments

· Lethality Assessments

· Prepare client rooms for occupancy A

· Assist with maintaining shelter readiness, supplies, and shared spaces

· Monitor adherence to communal living expectations outlined in shelter policies

· Assist with dispatching hospital advocacy volunteers according to established protocols

· Maintain resource materials, forms, and referral information to ensure availability of current services

· Transport clients using agency vehicles when appropriate and authorized

· Assist with grocery procurement and household supply inventory for shelter operations

· Respond to Crisis Line Calls: Provide immediate, trauma-informed support to individuals contacting the crisis line

· Assist Clients with Obtaining Foundational Documentation: Support clients in securing essential identification and legal documents, including Social Security Cards, driver’s licenses, birth certificates, and other necessary records.

· Support Case Management in Coordination with CCM: Collaborate with the Clinical Case Manager to support ongoing client case management needs.

Court Specific

· Supervised by Executive Director

· Assist survivors in understanding court processes, legal terminology, and procedural expectations

· Support completion and filing of 50B Domestic Violence Protective Orders, 50C Civil No-Contact Orders, and Ex Parte orders

· Provide accompaniment to court hearings, magistrate appointments, and law enforcement meetings

· Maintain ongoing communication with survivors throughout legal proceedings

· Provide information regarding family court processes, custody considerations, and child protective services involvement when applicable
