KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and proofreading
- Ability to compile and summarize information, prioritize and schedule variable tasks
- Ability to interact and communicate with staff and the public
- Ability to exercise good judgment, take the initiative and work with minimal supervision
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
High school graduate and two years of related clerical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
MACHINE SKILLS REQUIRED:
Computer skills, electronic typewriter, electronic calculator, photocopier, and fax machine
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
SALARY: Salary Grade 59
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive and smoothly-run transportation office.
- Welcomes visitors.
- Processes all bus driver/safety assistant applications and new drivers for employment.
- Maintains fuel master system.
- Assists Office Manager in daily operations.
- Maintains field trip information.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely.
- Ability to bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull.
- Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies and materials.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and others.
