NATURE OF WORK:
Employee performs work involving receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuing materials and supplies for a central Distribution Center having a large volume of materials, supplies, and distribution activities. Tasks require physical labor in the loading and unloading of goods received and to be delivered. Work is routine and directed by established procedures with instructions provided for new and unusual assignments. Simple problems are resolved by the employee with more complex problems referred to the Warehouse Manager. Errors should be revealed during periodic inventory or through occasional observation and may result in low inventory and budget problems. Employee works independently with general supervision.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with warehouse employees, school personnel, maintenance personnel and the general public.
- Basic working knowledge of computers and ability to learn mailroom equipment.
- Knowledge of volatile materials storage.
- Experience in the operation of a forklift. Forklift certification will be required within a timely manner after the position start date.
- Ability to load and unload materials and supplies.
- Clear driving record.
- Skill in simple computations.
- Considerable knowledge of inventory control and warehousing procedures.
- Ability to manage inventory systems.
- Ability to comprehend procedures.
- Ability to provide leadership.
EDUCATION, TRAINING REQUIRED:
- High school graduate
- Two years related experience in Warehousing/Stocking procedures preferred
- Some experience with inventory control procedures
- North Carolina CDL license will be required within a timely manner after position start date.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
SALARY: Salary Grade 59
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Rotates stock as required and directed by Warehouse Manager.
- Monitors activities in the Distribution Center to insure proper recording of outgoing materials.
- Notifies Warehouse Manager when adjustments to inventory levels are warranted to reflect receipts and disbursements.
- Maintains overall organization and cleanliness of the Distribution Center.
- Maintain warehouse inventory and location on computer.
- Keep maintenance material list to match with work orders at the end of the job on that particular work order number.
- Close out work orders with labor, material lists from warehouse, materials from vendors, and materials ordered for the job.
- Inventory as needed for restocking of warehouse.
- Maintain a daily log of supplies and materials issued to maintenance personnel.
- Keep uniform records, issuing and cancellations.
- Issue parts and supplies from warehouse to maintenance and school employees and record them with a work order number.
- Use computer to adjust inventory after issuing materials from warehouse stock.
- Unload trucks, check in received supplies and stock supplies in correct location in Distribution Center.
- Monitors activities in the Distribution Center to ensure proper recording of outgoing materials.
- Adjust inventory levels to reflect receipts and disbursements.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
- Performs related work as directed by Warehouse Manager as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without difficulty, continuously be able to reach above eye level, and stand for long periods.
- Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb ladders for extended periods of time.
- Must have the ability and physical strength sufficient to move objects.
- Must be able to travel to a variety of school sites.
- Must have the ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
