Medical Billing Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible a leader in their field. Someone that is a self starter and can work independently without supervision but enjoys a team setting. Someone with a great work ethic and can ensure accuracy in coding and compliance with regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, medical billing and coding and Medicare guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accurate billing.
• Utilize coding requirements with ICD-10, ICD-9 and CPT to review and assign (as needed) appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding claims.
• Review medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries and discrepancies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing practices, coding updates, and changes in regulations.
• Be a team player and assist in all departments, as needed

Qualifications

• At least one year experience in medical billing in a healthcare setting
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9) and medical records management
• Familiarity with insurance claim processes and Medicare guidelines
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills to interact professionally with patients and healthcare professionals
• Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus, but not required
