OnPoint Family Medicine at Dakota Ridge is looking for a Referral Coordinator to join their growing family practice!

This position is located onsite at OnPoint Family Medicine at Dakota Ridge in Littleton, CO. 

About the Role:

The Referral Coordinator plays a critical role in facilitating seamless patient care by managing and coordinating referrals within the healthcare network. This position ensures that patients receive timely and accurate information regarding their referrals, while maintaining clear communication between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients. The coordinator is responsible for tracking referral statuses, verifying insurance coverage, and resolving any issues that may arise during the referral process. By efficiently managing these tasks, the Referral Coordinator helps to optimize patient flow and supports the overall operational effectiveness of the healthcare facility. This role requires a detail-oriented and compassionate individual who can navigate complex medical office procedures while providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process incoming and outgoing patient referrals accurately and promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives to coordinate referral approvals and appointments.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits related to referrals to ensure coverage and reduce delays.
  • Maintain detailed records of referral activities and follow up on pending or incomplete referrals to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist patients by answering questions, providing guidance on referral procedures, and addressing any concerns related to their care coordination.
  • Provide support to front desk staff when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a medical office or healthcare environment with knowledge of medical office procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and referral management software.
  • Basic understanding of insurance processes and terminology related to healthcare referrals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Medical Office Administration or related healthcare coordination credentials.
  • Experience specifically in referral coordination or patient scheduling within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards.
  • Advanced proficiency with healthcare information systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

The Referral Coordinator utilizes medical office communication skills daily to interact clearly and empathetically with patients and healthcare providers, ensuring all parties understand referral processes and requirements. Medical office procedures knowledge is essential for accurately managing referral documentation, verifying insurance details, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Customer service skills are critical in addressing patient inquiries, resolving issues, and providing a positive experience throughout the referral journey. The ability to use electronic health records and referral management software streamlines workflow and enhances accuracy in tracking referral statuses. Additionally, organizational and multitasking skills enable the coordinator to manage numerous referrals simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

Salary: $20 - $25 per hour
