The Deputy Commissioner provides executive oversight and strategic direction for capital improvement, asset management, fleet, construction, conveyance, and stormwater divisions within the Department of Water Environment Protection. This role is responsible for leading capital planning efforts, managing project delivery and financial performance, and advising executive leadership on infrastructure investment, funding strategy, and long-term system sustainability.
• Provides leadership over capital improvement, asset management, fleet, construction, conveyance, and stormwater divisions within WEP.
• Manages and oversees the department’s capital projects and budget for projects.
• Develops, reviews, and, with approval by the County Executive, implements the department’s 5-year Capital Improvement Plan, providing regular updates on project status to the Commissioner and office of the County Executive.
• Manage the department’s grants and financial needs, ensuring the department is taking advantage of all sources of funding available.
• Leads cross-functional teams in continuous improvement, innovation, and operation efficiency projects.

Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field, and ten (10) years of professional level administrative work experience, or its part time equivalent, five (5) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Special Necessary Requirement
Professional Engineer’s License in the State of New York is required at appointment for the position.
