System Engineer

Job Title: System Engineer (Infrastructure) - Contractor

Location: On-site | Smyrna, TN

Engagement Type: Contract (via Staffing Company)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Mid-Level System Engineer to provide on-site infrastructure support at our manufacturing facility in Smyrna, TN. This contractor will be responsible for the build, operation, and maintenance of server and storage infrastructure, ensuring stable and reliable IT operations in a plant environment.

This is an onsite hands-on, operational role requiring strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and maintain server infrastructure (physical and virtual)
• Manage storage systems (SAN / NAS), including monitoring and basic capacity management
• Perform system setup, configuration, patching, and routine maintenance
• Monitor system health and respond to infrastructure incidents
• Troubleshoot server, storage, and OS-level issues
• Support backup and recovery operations
• Work closely with local IT, network, and security teams to support plant operations
• Maintain basic system documentation and operational procedures
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in system / infrastructure engineering
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server and/or Linux
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware or similar)
• Basic experience with enterprise storage systems
• Strong troubleshooting and on-site support capability
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing / plant environment

• Experience supporting factory or industrial IT environments
• Familiarity with backup tools and monitoring systems
• Basic scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure / AWS)
