Position Title: DHS Journeyman Tier Network Support Personnel
Location: Suitland, MD (must be within 50 miles, travel required)
Clearance: TS/SCI
Job Summary
Job Summary: The Journeyman Tier Network Support Personnel will be responsible for operations & maintenance (O&M), troubleshooting, network engineering, documentation support, and lifecycle management of a DHS enterprise network.
Education and Experience:
- Top Security/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance as a US citizen.
- Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph preferred.
- Minimum Security certification required.
- Must maintain a professional certification in accordance with the Department of Defense M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
- Must satisfy and sustain DoD IA training and certification requirements (see DoD M, Chapters 3, 4, 6, and 11).
Essential Duties:
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Provide awareness of network status, including issues or outages, or other changes that affect Intelligence customers or services. Status includes relevant circuits and 'rack to jack' connectivity.
- Utilize existing mechanisms, monitoring software and SOPs to maintain network awareness and report system operational status to the COR and/or network team lead. This includes system degradation, unexpected outages, and maintenance.
- Communicate changes regarding network status to COR and/or network team lead or affected customers regarding operational status, maintenance windows, system outages, taclane troubleshooting, and router and network switch troubleshooting.
- Recommend improvements to the network monitoring system, or procedures, to the COR according to industry best practices or appropriate policy guidance.
- Provide documentation updates, or support, related to network compliance for Authority to Operate (ATO), Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG), or other Information Assurance (IA) policy instruction for network connectivity.
- Update, or create, required documentation, for compliance or operational necessity of network elements per applicable SOP.
- Perform applicable patch management related to compliance instructions, communicate status to the COR, and recommend changes required to maintain compliance.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Solarwinds Monitoring Software and System Logs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with service providers, external customers, and site representatives.
- Ability to travel to enterprise locations for engineering efforts and customer support efforts as approved by the COR.
Security and Citizenship Requirements:
- Must be citizens of the United States and meet the security background criteria.
- Must have a favorably adjudicated background investigation.
- Will be held responsible for applying for, obtaining and maintaining a valid Common Access Card (CAC) as a condition of continued employment under the contract.
- Must have an active Security
- CCNA to be obtained within 6 months of hire date
