Position Summary
The In Home Caregiver provides personalized, non-medical support to individuals in their homes to help them live safely, comfortably, and independently. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and mobility support. The caregiver offers companionship, emotional support, and supervision to promote the client’s overall well-being. Additionally, the caregiver observes and reports changes in the client’s condition to ensure continued health, safety, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care Assistance:
Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene.
Support mobility and physical transfers (e.g., from bed to chair).
Provide assistance with incontinence care and toileting routines.
Medication Support:
Provide reminders for prescribed medications.
Assist in organizing pillboxes or medication schedules.
Monitor for potential side effects and report concerns to family or medical professionals.
Meal Preparation and Nutrition:
Plan, prepare, and serve meals based on dietary needs and preferences.
Encourage proper nutrition and hydration.
Light Housekeeping:
Perform basic cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, dusting, washing dishes, and laundry.
Maintain a clean and safe home environment.
Organize household supplies and ensure overall cleanliness.
Companionship and Emotional Support:
Engage in activities such as reading, puzzles, games, or watching television.
Foster social engagement and provide emotional companionship.
Network with local organizations to facilitate access to community resources, including employment, recreation, and social services.
Transportation and Errands:
Accompany or drive individuals to medical appointments, grocery stores, or social outings.
Run errands such as picking up prescriptions or household supplies.
Health and Wellness Monitoring:
Observe changes in physical or mental condition and report to family or healthcare providers.
Keep detailed logs of daily care routines and incidents.
Communication and Coordination:
Update family members or supervisors on the client’s condition.
Follow care plans provided by healthcare professionals or family members.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Proven experience as a caregiver, home health aide, or in a similar role.
Ability to follow care plans and instructions from healthcare professionals or family.
Basic understanding of home care best practices and personal hygiene standards.
Patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others.
Required Certifications:
CPR or First Aid certification.
Valid driver’s license (if transportation duties are required).
